Daily Itinerary

Day 1 (Saturday): Arrival in Munich

The capital of Free-State Bavaria is famous for shady beer gardens. Enjoy a cool “Maß” and get a taste of pleasures to come.

Day 2 (Sunday): Munich to Bad Tölz, 37 miles (60 km).

Follow the river Isar cycle path through green forests via Wolfratshausen and Geretsried to Bad Tölz. Here two main trading routes crossed – the river Isar and the old salt route from Reichenhall to Allgäu.

Day 3 (Monday): Bad Tölz to Bad Feilnbach, 41 miles (65 km).

Through lovely pastures around Lake Tegernsee to Gmund on Tegernsee with marvellous panoramic views. Then you cycle pass green meadows and Lake Schliersee on gently undulating roads to Bad Feilnbach. 40 miles

Day 4 (Tuesday): Bad Feilnbach to Lake Chiemsee, 28 miles (45 km).

Today you cycle through Kollerfilze, the largest peat area of Bavaria. Soon you reach Neubeuern and then onto Frasdorf at the foot of the Chiemgau Alps to Lake Chiemsee, where you can enjoy a boat trip to the islands Herren and Frauenchiemsee.

Day 5 (Wednesday): Lake Chiemsee to Inzell, 22 miles (35 km).

The mountains are getting higher – nevertheless you cycle on almost flat roads. Through “Bergener Moos”, a moor on the foot of Hochfelln, the route passes Bad Adelholzen to Siegsdorf. Then you keep along the river Rote Traun to idyllic Inzell. Look out for the “Lüftlmalerei” decorative paintings on the houses as well as rich flower decorations.

Day 6 (Thursday): Inzell to Berchtesgaden, 28 miles (45 km).

You cycle on the Deutsche Alpenstraße via Schneitzelreuth alongside the river Saalach to Bad Reichenhall. Between mighty Mount Untersberg and Predigtstuhl the cycle path Salinenweg leads to Berchtesgaden.

Day 7 (Friday): Berchtesgaden to Salzburg, 28 miles (45 km).

Enjoy the beautiful loop tour to Lake Königssee and return to Berchtesgaden. East of Untersberg the old salt-trading route via Marktschellenberg and St. Leonhard you pass the invisible border to Austria. Welcome to the country of Mozart, visit castle Hellbrunn before reaching the centre of Salzburg.

Day 8 (Saturday): Departure from Salzburg.
