Day 1 Arrival in Bad Waltersdorf
In the midst of the magnificent Austrian rolling countryside, the healing thermal bath of Bad Waltersdorf has one of the mightiest thermal springs in Austria.
Day 2 Round trip from Bad Waltersdorf 16 miles.
A wide-spread net work of cycle paths are waiting for you with numerous possibilities of roundtrips in a landscape of indescribable beauty. You pass the idyllic “Stubenbergsee” and the animal sanctury of the castle Herberstein, which 130 different species call their home. Villages, which are decorated with flowers, and wine taverns will border your way. Wonderful descents will compensate for the uphill climb.
Day 3 Bad Waltersdorf to Bad Tatzmannsdorf 27 miles.
Constantly up and down you cycle through dark forests, small farmer-villages, passing meadows, vineyards and fruit plantations. Open air museums give you some insight in a farming culture long gone.
Day 4 Bad Tatzmannsdorf to Kukmirn 25 miles.
Cycling through a gently undulating landscape featuring orchards and vineyards, you will pass by the spa in Stegersbach (Kumpf-spa) until you reach the apple-village Kukmirn (famous for its Schnaps distillery). Enjoy the evening in one of the wine taverns of the region.
Day 5 Kukmirn to Bad Blumau 19 miles.
A very diversified ride, through wooded hills and meadows, and fertile plains leads you today to Bad Blumau. In the middle of untouched nature you will find the sensational spa-landscape, created by the famous painter Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
Day 6 Depart Bad Blumau.
It is the end of the tour so time to make your way home, or you can extend your stay in Bad Blumau. There is a direct train connection to Bad Waltersdorf. |
